Ayala Corporation is set to lead the electric vehicle (EV) charge in the Philippines as it joins hands with global EV manufacturer BYD through an exclusive distribution agreement.

Under the terms of this agreement, Ayala secures the sole rights to distribute and market BYD passenger electric vehicles within the Philippines. The conglomerate also gains the authority to establish a network of dealerships for the sale of these electric vehicles.

In its role as the designated distributor, Ayala Corp. will oversee the marketing and sales of BYD’s passenger vehicles across an extensive dealership network. The conglomerate is firmly committed to expanding the brand’s footprint across the country and ensuring comprehensive post-sales support, including the provision of spare parts and technical assistance, catering to both new and existing BYD vehicle owners.

Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, AC Motors’ head, emphasized the conglomerate’s ambitious vision to lead the shift towards electric mobility. He underlined Ayala’s steadfast commitment to establishing AC Motors as a premier platform for EVs and other cutting-edge energy vehicles in the Philippines.

The aspiration encompasses positioning BYD as a significant player within the local market, capturing a notable share among EV brands while exerting a considerable influence on the broader automotive sector.

BYD, renowned for its comprehensive portfolio of competitively priced passenger and commercial vehicles, is well-equipped to drive a robust adoption of EVs. The company’s integrated operations span the entire automotive value chain, encompassing vehicle design, assembly, battery technology, electric powertrain development, semiconductors, and investments in critical areas such as rail transit, renewable energy, and battery storage.

The Ayala conglomerate is poised to introduce an array of six BYD models through its dealership network, featuring the opulent executive sedan BYD Han, the spacious 7-seater family SUV BYD Tang, and the compact yet versatile BYD Dolphin hatchback.

Adding to the lineup, the highly acclaimed BYD ATTO 3 EV model, celebrated globally for its outstanding design, comfort, quality, practicality, and performance, is slated for release by the end of the year.
