Ex-Pilipinas Shell CEO Cesar Romero to join Aboitizes in AEV board

The Aboitiz family is getting former Pilipinas Shell president and CEO Cesar Romero on the board of its holding firm, Aboitiz Equity Ventures.

The 56-year old Romero was nominated as independent director along with holdovers former Finance Undersecretary Romeo Bernardo and Morgan Stanley senior adviser Joanne De Asis. Romero will replace Manuel R. Salak III.

Romero stepped down from Shell due to “end of group service” in November 2021 after overseeing the shutdown of the oil firm’s Batangas refinery in 2020.

The other members of the AEV board are chairman Enrique M. Aboitiz, vice chairman Mikel A. Aboitiz, Erramon I. Aboitiz, Sabin M. Aboitiz, Justo A. Ortiz, and Ms. Ana Maria A. Delgado.
